WACO Junior/Senior High School donated close to 5,000 books over the course of four days.

Students were assigned with the task of updating the school’s library to entice more kids to spend more time there. In order for them to create space, the group wanted to cut down on books that were no longer serving the students at WACO. When researching the check-out history, they came across many books that hadn’t been checked out in years, some dating back to the year 2000. According to Principal Tim Bartels, nearly 5,000 books were selected to donate.

After collecting the targeted books, the library was open to the public and people were invited to grab as many books as they wanted. The library opened at a basketball game last Monday and after school on Tuesday and Wednesday. By Friday morning, Bartels says every single book was gone.
