WACO students got to show off what they’ve been working on during their J-term session.

The first six days after coming back from winter break, students from WACO Junior/Senior High School put all of their time into one project. Students got to choose from an array of subjects they wanted to learn about like cosplay design, budget management, and airbrush art. Thursday night, students brought their families to the school and showed what they accomplished in those six days.

Principal Tim Bartels says was blown away with what the students were able to accomplish, “When these students were given this time during J-term they really excelled with what it is that they did. They used skills they didn’t think they would have to. It was just exciting for me to see what that looks like.”

Bartels described the open house as a “family reunion” with all the family members who came to see what their students had done. According to Bartlels, the parents and families were as impressed as he was, “Their reaction was, ‘This is so great, we enjoy seeing what’s happening here. We enjoy the environment that’s being created here at WACO.’ Their main point was, they enjoy seeing their student outside of the normal classroom.” WACO students will resume their regular class schedule on Monday.
