Student-athletes at Washington High School have been excelling in the classroom in recent seasons. Principal Erik Buchholz spoke of the success at the recent Washington School Board meeting. He explained the teams’ grade point averages (GPAs) have been high. This fall, the volleyball and girls’ cross country teams earned Distinguished rates for their team GPAs. The football, boys’ cross country, and football cheer teams all earned excellence ratings. In the 2017-2018 school year, Distinguished ratings went to the girls’ basketball, boys’ basketball, basketball cheer, girls’ track, girls’ soccer, girls’ golf, boys’ golf, and softball teams. Excellence ratings went to the boys’ track, boys’ soccer, and baseball teams. In the last year, the girls’ basketball team had the highest GPA at 3.836.
