Improvements to Fern Cliff County Park are high on the to-do list for the Washington County Conservation Board.

WCCB Executive Director Zach Rozmus says staff removed the shelter located at the east lower drive to kick off a “facelift” for the park. The goal is to add up to two new shelters. Rozmus says that the restroom is also a point of emphasis, “The current latrine that’s in place right now has been there since 1986 and it’s in much need of replacement. It’s just kind of top priority moving forward for one of our capital projects that we’re going to be asking for here in the next fiscal year.” The next step in the process is for the board to find the best location for the latrine. The current location is in a flood plain which has sparked concern with board members. The next step in moving forward with the $22,000 project is the board to approve it. The issue was tabled due to two board members being absent from the recent meeting.
