The City of Wellman is hoping to be added to Washington County’s multi-jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan sometime next year.According to City Administrator Nick Pacha, meetings between the city and ECICOG will begin in the coming months where they’ll make adjustments to their standalone plan to make it fit with the county’s plan.

Pacha says this is a three to six month process. The Board of Supervisors has passed a preliminary resolution saying they will add Wellman, but will need to officially add the city after the adjustments are made.

Once added to the plan, Wellman will be able to receive grant funding from FEMA when hit by natural disasters.
