Washington city administration has planned for a runway rehab project at the Washington Municipal Airport, but the city council will take another look at the project. The city plans to move a runway to make it longer and wider. An engineer that has worked with the city on the planning writes in a report to the council that it was determined that the runway does not meet several F-A-A standards and requirements.

During that evaluation process, the engineer also advised the city that repairing the current runway with an overlay was not ideal compared with moving the runway.  One reason is that the different underlying base would make it more likely to crack at the edges of the overlay. The council meeting plans to discuss the project on Wednesday evening.
