Recently the Dubuque County Board of Supervisors considered a proposal to stop paying for cats brought into the humane society.  This proposal was in relation to expenses totaling almost $100,000 over a three-year period.  Paws And More Animal Shelter Director Amber Talbot says here in Washington County, there is a positive relationship with the Supervisors and the vital investment that has been made toward the long-term impact of controlling overpopulation early and saving taxpayers’ money.

She says if funding was to be cut, it would be detrimental to their services but they would still try to handle the problem.  Talbot says the funding received from the Supervisors goes toward seven days of boarding and they are very grateful for the support from the County.
