The residents of an apartment building near downtown Washington have until 10 a.m. today to evacuate. The building at 306 North Marion was found to have high levels of contamination of materials associated with manufacture of methamphetamine.  Last month, police found materials for making meth in one apartment. These test results have showed that chemicals spread into other areas.

The owner of the apartment building will need to have cleaning work done before the city considers it inhabitable again.  The city says that police will be securing the building to prevent further exposure to contamination and to prevent theft of any possessions left behind.
