The Kalona City Council will put the B Avenue project out for bid after reviewing the bid documents at its next meeting. According to Kalona City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh, the mill and overlay from Highway 1 to 4th Street is the city’s primary focus in the roads plan for the upcoming fiscal year. He says milling involves removing some of the existing pavement to create a flat surface prior to covering the road with asphalt. He adds the areas where this process has been used in the past have held up nicely. The project is estimated to cost up to $175,000. The council’s next meeting is on July 6th.
