Very few things went well for the Washington Demon boys’ basketball team Friday evening in Keokuk. As you heard on FM 106.1 and KCIIRadio.com, the Demon starters got into early foul trouble and never could recover from a 17 point first quarter deficit as Washington fell 77-33 against the Chiefs.

Washington junior guard Derek Anding scored a team-high 11 points, the only Demon player to score in double figures Friday night. A positive for Washington in the loss was the play of their bench. After scoring a combined three points in the first four games, the Demon role players scored 14 points between four players. Junior point guard Jack Giardino came off the bench to score seven points including a five for eight night at the free-throw line.

Keokuk senior guard Chris Ailes-Jones had 14 of his game high 32 points in the first quarter, helping the Chiefs to a 22-5 lead after eight minutes of play. Keokuk extended the lead out to 49-19 at halftime and 65-26 at the end of three quarters.

The loss drops Washington to 1-4 overall as the Demons start the conference season 0-1.
