press play to hear from Iowa Renewable Energy GM Alan Yoder

The manager of a local bio-diesel plant says the expiration of the federal “blender’s tax credit” has brought his industry to a grinding halt. Allan Yoder is with Washington based Iowa Renewable Energy. He says he’s had to lay off six employees since the credit expired. Companies like IRE were receiving one dollar per gallon of bio-diesel that was blended with a tenth of a percent of petroleum based fuel. Yoder says without that credit, consumers are unwilling to purchase his product.
