The recent flooding has created unsafe conditions for boating on Lake Odessa. An advisory against boating on the Mississippi River was extended to the body of water in Louisa County yesterday. There’s currently a large amount of debris in the lake due to the high waters, and there are also concerns about shoreline cabins and erosion along unprotected shorelines caused by boat wakes. According to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources all the lake’s boat ramps and accesses are flooded. Recreation is not recommended until flood waters recede.
