A bridge replacement project will close part of G26, or 190th Street, to traffic from Elm Avenue to Fir Avenue starting Monday. The Washington County Engineer’s Office explains a deteriorating steel I-beam bridge will be removed and replaced with a triple reinforced concrete box culvert. Also, 706 feet of the road will be repaved.

Iowa Bridge and Culvert, L.C. Of Washington will be doing the work for $966,417.84. The county is paying for the project with farm to market construction dollars.

Due to the closure, traffic will be detoured using W38, or Ginkgo Avenue, Highway 92 and V15, the Keota Washington Road. The project is tentatively scheduled to be finished in early to mid-fall.
