There will be two more opportunities for input from residents on an ordinance amendment that would change Kalona’s rules on burning. The amendment, which had its first reading at the city council’s meeting Monday night, bans burn barrels beginning May of next year, but allows burn rings less than 24 inches tall. It would also limit burning to daylight hours Thursday, Friday and Saturday during April, May, September and October.
