Canoeists and kayakers alike have an opportunity to get out on the river this weekend.  The Louisa County Conservation Center is holding an event today and tomorrow giving residents a day to explore the Odessa Water Trail.

Katie Hammond with Louisa County Conservation says canoes and kayaks will be on loan tonight from 6:00 to 9:00, most of Saturday, and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  She says they will also provide life jackets and paddles.  A suggested donation of $20 for a canoe and $15 for a kayak is requested, and proceeds go to the county’s conservation program.

Hammond says it’s a great chance for people who don’t normally get out on the river to do so.  Boats can be reserved by calling Louisa County Conservation.  Unreserved canoes and kayaks will be loaned on a first-come, first-serve basis.
