The case against the Keokuk County Sheriff charged for operating while intoxicated has been dismissed.  [simage=2948,400,y,center]

During a press conference yesterday morning, Washington County Attorney Larry Brock said after investigating the case regarding the arrest of Keokuk County Sheriff Jeff Shipley in July of last year, there was enough evidence to convict Shipley but he felt there was a less than a 50% chance of a jury finding Shipley guilty of OWI in the first offense.

He says the court entered into a deferred prosecution agreement in which that if Shipley would seek a substance abuse evaluation and follow the recommended treatment, the case would be dismissed.  Attorney Brock made a motion yesterday morning to dismiss the case against Shipley.  Shipley will have to pay prosecution costs ranging from $60 – $100 on this case and will remain the sheriff for the county.  Look under Radio Plus to hear the entire press conference.
