The Washington County Board of Supervisors approved a resolution for a Riverboat Foundation grant application for approximately $52,000 from the Conservation Board. If awarded, this grant will cover half of the cost of improving the area in proximity to the Mary Marr Lodge, including creating a peninsula to replace a dock on a pond and then placing a gazebo there.

Steve Anderson, Director of Washington Conservation, explained that no property tax dollars are going to the project and it is in part being funded by self generated fees and funds. Anderson added that the area is popular for weddings and other events.
