A Sigourney man will appear in court for arraignment on charges of first-degree murder this week.

In June, 21-year-old Johnny Dale Jr. of Sigourney was charged with first-degree murder following the death of four-month-old Kane Bruns of Oskaloosa. When Dale Jr. was originally arrested, he was charged with child endangerment resulting in serious injury. Two days later, those charges were elevated to first-degree murder and child endangerment resulting in death after Bruns passed away. Dale Jr. was the primary caregiver for the child on June 16th when Bruns’ mother found her son unresponsive at their home in Oskaloosa.

Dale Jr. will appear in court Friday in Mahaska County. He is currently in custody at the Mahaska County Jail on a $1,000,000 bond.
