Iowa’s State Court Offices are being required to take 10 furlough days to accommodate the governor’s ten percent budget cuts. Julie Johnson is the court clerk in Washington County. She says the last time furloughs were ordered it created a “scheduling nightmare.” During the ’09 legislative session, lawmakers solved funding shortfalls in the judicial branch with increases in almost every filing fee, as well as hikes in probate of state fees and court fees associated with traffic violations.
