According to the most recent crop and weather report, planting progress was slowed last week. Excessive amounts of rain and thunderstorms across southeast Iowa limited the amount of time farmers could get out into the fields. But even with less time farmers were able to advance corn planting by 14%.  Soybean planting is going at the same rate it was last year and oat planting is nearly complete.

Over 50 percent of southeast Iowa topsoil has adequate moisture, while 45 percent has an excess of water.
