Tuesday unofficially started the spring sports season for area boys schools with the Dickinson Relays Indoor Track meet on the campus of the University of Northern Iowa. Attending from the area were the Washington, Columbus and Winfield-Mt. Union boys teams.

The Demons participated in nine events on the day. Elijah Morris had the top Washington performance, taking fifth in the 200 with a time of 23.12 seconds. Lance Sobaski was sixth in the 800 with his 2:04.25. Ethan Patterson cleared 5’10” in the high jump to take 27th. Bradyen Hartman threw 44’8.5″ for 27th in the shot. Micah Rees was 45th in the mile with a time of 5:00.28, the Demon 4×200 team of Sam Ackerman, Alec Ulin, Jacob Miller and Austin Rebling finished 46th in 1:41.79, Ethan Zieglowsky was 75th in the 60 hurdles in 10.10 seconds and Evan Miller was 167th in the 60m dash in 7.83 seconds.

The Columbus Wildcats competed in nine different events. Kaden Amigon led the way for the Cats, taking 20th in the 200 with a time of 23.93 seconds. He was 26th in the long jump clearing 19’5″ and 40th in the 60m dash in 7.37 seconds. Freddy Vergara finished 30th in the two mile in 10:48.58. The 4×800 team of Isaac Acosta, Oscar Alcala, Tyler Humiston and Damian Vergara was 37th in 9:24.16. Acosta was 48th in the 800 in 2:15.06. The 4×200 team of Jeff Hoback, Juan Chairez, Andy Gonzales and Amigon was 49th in 1:42.13. Russell Coil was 102nd in the shot with his throw of 36’10” and Daniel Martinez was 160th in the 400 in 1:01.05.

Winfield-Mt. Union sent five events to Cedar Falls this week. Top finish for the Wolves came from The 4×800 team of Noah Sparrow, Ty Scorpil, Lane Scorpil and Gabriel Hemsworth finishing 49th in 9:41.74. Hemsworth was 111th in the 800 in 2:24.00, Nick Crow was 142nd in the shot with a throw of 33’0.5″. Brenden Simmons was 157th in the 60m dash with a time of 7.79 seconds and Ty Scorpil was 158th in the 400 in 1:00.93.
