October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and the Washington Public Library is holding an informational event. Debbie Stanton, director of the library, explains the Healthy Relationships Summit will focus on building healthy relationships and the resources available for those available. The summit will include a panel discussion with Washington County Attorney Shawn Showers, the president of Domestic Violence Intervention Program, Shawn Ellingson of the Washington Police Department and Susan Wellington from Lending Hands.

Stanton adds the library will be collecting items for victims of domestic abuse including toiletries, gas gift cards, diapers and grocery gift cards.

They are also encouraging people to wear purple during the month of October. It will be held October 20th, beginning at 11:30 a.m. For more information listen to today’s Washington Page.
