Wellman Municipal Water Works has issued a drinking water advisory Tuesday for the area south of 3rd Street and West of 9th Avenue.

The Wellman Water Supply is repairing a main water line and the area south of 3rd Street and west of 9th Avenue has lost pressure, and is without water. Due to the potential for bacterial contamination, the City of Wellman is recommending that residents in that area boil their water for consumption. Adults are recommended not to boil water excessively, as that can make the nitrites more concentrated when water evaporates. Adults and children older than six months can drink the tap water, and infants are recommended to drink bottled water or other water low in nitrites. The City of Wellman is repairing the water main, will flush the lines, and collect bacteria samples. This advisory is a precaution until bacterial sample results are available. KCII News will provide updates on the situation as more information becomes official.
