Agencies across the KCII-listening area assisted in extinguishing a building fire in Riverside Sunday.

The Riverside Fire Department responded to a building fire at 2776 170th Street with aid from the Kalona and Ainsworth Volunteer Fire Departments. The first arriving engine reported finding a tractor on fire along with the machine shed. Cause of the fire was determined to be from a mechanical failure with the tractor. Riverside Fire Chief Chad Smothers says that the tractor is considered a total loss and the shed received moderate smoke and fire damage. No injuries to civilians or firefighters were reported. Hills and Washington fire departments, Washington County Ambulance Service and the Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
