Applications are being accepted for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP).  The program is designed to help low-income level households with the cost of winter gas or electric bills.  Director of Customer Support Services for Alliant Energy Tim Heinrich says customers are encouraged to check their eligibility right away and apply as soon as possible.

Qualified residents can apply at their local county energy assistance agency to receive assistance.  Payments depend on household size, income level, and home energy costs.  The funds are available from now until the first of April next year.
