The price per acre of farmland in Washington County is increasing.  Dwight Duwa of Duwa Auction says the main factors are the rise in prices of crops and families wanting to buy land for younger family members.  Duwa also says that with bigger farming equipment allowing farmers to work in the fields faster, farmers are wanting more land in which to work.  He says that he has been seeing land prices increase since the early 1980s, however, the prices have been getting higher at a faster rate recently.  He also mentions that land used for farming is increasing more than land used strictly for recreation.
