If you’re looking to get a Christmas tree for the holidays that is already decorated, you’ll have the opportunity while helping raise funds to fight cancer in downtown Washington this weekend.

The Second Annual Festival of Trees is being held by Relay for Life of Washington County at KCTC. Bob Freeman, part of the Prairie Power Relay for Life team, shares there are some themed trees, last year there were Cyclones, Hawkeyes, Cubs trees, as well as some color-themed trees. There will also be wreaths and decorations available for purchase.

Freeman shares how he got involved with Relay for Life, “Four years ago, we lost a daughter to cancer. And nothing has affected me as much as that has. And it really drives me to do the things that I do for the American Cancer Society and for Relay for Life of Washington County.” He adds there is a 24-hour support-line through the American Cancer Society to help families during the holidays (1-800-227-2345), and that he’s also available to listen.

The Festival of Trees raised over $2,000 last year and the hope is to raise even more this year. Visit the trees at KCTC Friday 3-8 p.m. or Saturday 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
