Christmas came early for the Columbus Junction Fire Department this year. Chief Lynn Mincer tells KCII News, the department added a new 2000 gallon tanker truck and an infra-red thermal imaging camera to its state of the art fire fighting equipment arsenal. Mincer adds, the tanker comes with a compartment to tow extra water. The thermal camera allows fire fighters to find people in burning buildings that are engulfed in smoke and find any hot spots after the main fires are extingished. The department was able to make these crucial purchases through fund-raising efforts from members of the department as well as donations from local businesses, individual donations and grants.
