FEMA and the state of Iowa have allocated more than 290-thousand dollars to Washington County since the flood of 2008. It’s the combined sum of both individual and public assistance programs, the hazard mitigation program and the U.S. Small Business Administration’s low-interest disaster loans. About 87-thousand dollars went to eligible households. More than 50-thousand dollars was allocated for business loans. A little more than 115-thousand dollars is going towards reimbursements for emergency response measures by Washington County. In addition, the county is also receiving 38-thousand dollars for a hazard mitigation plan.
