Flu season is approaching and Washington County Public Health is starting to offer seasonal flu shots. Lynn Fisher from Washington County Public Health says this year’s seasonal vaccine contains the same strain as last year.  She says scientists look at surveillance and estimation by the type and strain that will circulate.

Fisher says children age six months to 18 years of age, pregnant women, anyone over the age of 50, those with chronic medical conditions and residents of nursing homes are at a higher risk of catching the flu.

She says the vaccine will last through the entire flu season and into next year.  To find out the times when the flu shots will be given, follow this link.
