The Centers for Disease Control says that you are encouraged to get a flu shot to stay healthy and there are influenza vaccines available. Lynn Fisher of Washington County Public Health says that the symptoms of the flu include having a 100-degree fever, overwhelming tiredness, sore throat, cough, runny nose, and body aches. She says that the flu is a respiratory illness, not a gastro-intestinal illness and you can not get sick from receiving your shot. Fisher recommends that everyone over the age of six months get a shot and if you want to get one, you can contact your primary care physician or Washington County Public Health at 653-7758 or washph.com.
