Every year the state of Iowa recognizes police officers who have been killed in the line of duty, and this year a local deputy’s life will be honored during Peace Officer Memorial Week.  Governor Terry Branstad has ordered all flags on the Capitol Complex to be flown at half staff today to remember eight officers who will be added to the Peace Officer Memorial.  One of the eight fallen officers being honored is Sergeant Eric Stein of the Keokuk County Sheriff’s Department, who was shot and killed on April 4th.

The governor encourages individuals, businesses, schools, towns, and counties to fly the flag at half-staff as well.
