Washington Farmer Wins $2,500 for County Fair

A Washington County Farmer has won a prize that he will be donating to the Washington County Fair. Steve and Sue Norman of Washington won $2,500 through a Monsanto sponsored program, America’s Farmers Grow Communities.

Letts Fire Department Will Get Large Grant

Senator Tom Harkin is announcing grants for two Iowa Fire Departments. The Letts Fire Department in Louisa County will be getting most of the grant funding, with the Anamosa Fire Department near Cedar Rapids getting a smaller portion.

IMS FFA Grant

Iowa Mennonite School’s FFA Program was one of six Iowa FFA chapters to receive a $1,500 grant from the Iowa Food and Family Project. These “Plant a Seed” grants are to be used to promote agricultural awareness and youth activities in their communities.

Main Street Washington Project

As previously reported, Main Street Washington revived a large grant from the Main Street Iowa program on January 28th. The $50,000 grant is going to be used to renovate the properties from 210-212 on South Marion Avenue.
