Iowa Valley Habitat for Humanity recently moved a donated home to a lot in Kalona, and is now looking for applicants and volunteers. According to Mark Patton, executive director of the organization, depending on the weather, the renovation could begin by the end of March. Patton says it will take up to 450 man hours, or 10 Saturdays, to complete the project. Their goal is to have the home at 121 A Avenue ready to occupy by midsummer.

Volunteering opportunities will be announced later this month. A family of four that makes less than $65,000 a year, has good credit and a minimal amount of debt can apply to own the home. Applications are available on their website IowaValleyHabitat.org.
