The extension of a proclamation to temporarily allow trucks to haul harvests with heavier weights is about to end.  Governor Terry Branstad first started this weight limit in September.  The lift was aimed for the harvests of corn, soybeans, hay, straw and stover.

Washington County Engineer David Patterson says farmers can still transport up to 12.5% over the legal load limit and the axle weight limit remains at 20,000 pounds.  The Iowa Department of Transportation will still monitor the lift on all Iowa roads with the exception of the interstates.

Patterson says this proclamation should remind drivers to be aware of slower moving vehicles.  The original exemption began on September 15th, was extended November 14th and ends tomorrow.
