The early season wins continue to pile up for the Highland Huskies girls’ and boys’ basketball teams. Highland’s basketball teams hosted the Lone Tree Lions Tuesday evening for a Southeast Iowa Super Conference showdown.

In the girls’ contest, Highland senior Cheyann Adamson had a game-high 18 points, collected four rebounds and stole the ball five times, leading the Huskies to a 67-24 victory over the Lions. Senior Chelsey Lampe contributed 16 points, dished out eight assists, and swiped seven steals in the victory. Combined with their victory Monday evening against Harmony, the Highland girls’ basketball team is outscoring their opponents this week 135-30. The win improves Highland to 7-1 overall on the season, and 5-1 in conference play.

The boys’ game between Highland and Lone Tree turned into the marquee game of the night, with Highland prevailing with a 51-50 over the previously unbeaten Lion. The victory improves Highland to 6-1 overall, with their lone loss being by one point to the Iowa Mennonite School last Tuesday evening at Hillcrest Union.

The two Highland teams bring their combined 13-2 record into play this Friday evening as they welcome the Mediapolis Bulldogs for a Southeast Iowa Super Conference contest.
