Tomorrow is voting day in the City of Washington on a hotel motel tax.

Residents of the city will be able to vote to support or deny a seven percent hotel motel tax to be implemented in the city. If approved it’d go into effect January 1st, 2018, and would mean people who rent rooms when visiting Washington would pay an additional seven percent tax. Funds raised would be used for the promotion of tourism in Washington and to improve the city facilities. Over 150 other cities in Iowa, and 17 counties, have implemented hotel motel taxes. Polls will be open at the Washington County Courthouse from noon to 8 p.m. for voters to cast ballots. Listen to KCII Tuesday night for results live from the courthouse.
