Don’t Feed the Turkeys, Says DNR

The DNR is asking people to not feed wild turkeys. The statement comes after a flock of turkeys took up residence in Clear Lake due to being fed by the towns residents. Bill Ohde with the DNR Office in Brighton says turkeys aren’t dangerous; they just shouldn’t be fed because they will get used to humans and lose their natural instincts.

Lead Shot Ban to be Discussed by Lawmakers

Lawmakers will be looking at the issue of lead shot use again this legislative session. The shot was banned last August because of concerns that the shot poisoned eagles and other wildlife.

Lower Deer Harvest Numbers

There were less deer for hunters this deer hunting season. Wes Gould, the Game Warden for Keokuk and Washington County, says hunters have reported seeing less deer than previous seasons. He says there are a number of reasons for the lower numbers.

Sewer and Septic Open House in Ainsworth this Week
