An Illinois agriculture company has announced its acquisition of a Kalona grain elevator.  Archer Daniels Midland Company of Decatur, Illinois will now own English River Pellets, a grain elevator and animal feed manufacturing business.

English River Pellets also operates a location in Washington.

Joe Taets with Archer Daniels Midland says the acquisition establishes a strong footprint for grain origination in southeast Iowa, and the company plans to use the facilities in Kalona and Washington to help originate crops for its soybean processing plant in Quincy, Illinois and corn processing plant in Cedar Rapids.

Taets says area farmers will now have expertise in local and global agricultural markets available to them.  Archer Daniels Midland operates more than 265 processing plants, converting corn, oilseeds, wheat and cocoa into products for food, animal feed, chemical and energy uses.
