The Washington City Council has approved the preliminary boundary recording and platting for the new industrial park near the waste water treatment plant. At the council meeting there was some discussion about business interest in the site and how to sell the land. Ed Raber, Director of Washington Economic Development Group, said that with the last industrial park, the land was sold on contract to WEDG and then WEDG helped find buyers, when a buyer was found WEDG then brought the proposed price and the council had to approve before the sale was final. This allows for fewer public hearings and a smoother sale for the purchaser. Raber added that there is already interest in purchasing plats.
