The Ambulance Department has become a focus for Washington County officials over the last several weeks and that continued with a resignation Thursday. KCII News spoke with members of the Washington County Auditor’s Office and Board of Supervisors, to confirm that Interim Ambulance Director Pat Curl resigned his position through a letter submitted November 17th, effective immediately. Those officials were not able to discuss any of the specifics outlined in the letter regarding Curl’s decision to leave the department, and Curl did not respond to KCII’s attempts to contact him, asking him to elaborate.

Curl was selected to serve as the Interim Director of the department after Washington County Ambulance Director Jeremy Peck was placed on month-long administrative leave without pay, beginning October 27th. Following the change, a group of Washington County Ambulance and EMS workers addressed the Supervisors during their November 1st meeting, to express a vote of no confidence in ambulance administration. Curl also faced questions from the Supervisors at the November 15th meeting regarding the BLS transport service that the board prompted based on concerns expressed by the public, as well as a personnel change request order and other matters of department function.

The ambulance department will again be a focus for the Supervisors at their meeting on the 22nd as the agenda features discussion and action regarding Human Resources assistance for the ambulance service, possible action regarding an independent audit of the ambulance billing department, discussion and action regarding department leadership, definition of job descriptions for employees within the department and a personnel change request. KCII will bring you more information as it becomes official.
