The City of Kalona fared well this winter when it came to material and equipment used to combat snow and ice. Kalona City Administrator Ryan Schlabaugh says taking into consideration everything from the condition of the blades on the city’s plows to their supply of ice melt, they’re in good shape. The ice early last week did prompt the city to order additional sand. Schlabaugh notes they start the season with several truckloads of supplies, amounting to 30 to 40 tons of material.
