Wellman Council Talks About Water Debt Refunding

The Wellman City Council met last night and at their meeting they heard a request from two residents for livestock within city limits. Julie Groff and Pat Peiffer made the request and the council held a discussion of the issue.

PQA Plus Training Coming Soon

Two Pork Quality Assurance Plus training sessions will be in the area soon. The Iowa Pork Industry Center and Iowa State Extension are hosting these sessions for pork producers who need to be certified.

Farmer Wins $2,500 for Fairgrounds Buildings

A Washington County Farmer has won a prize that he will be donating to the Washington County Fair. Steve and Sue Norman of Washington won $2,500 through a Monsanto sponsored program, America’s Farmers Grow Communities.

Iowa’s Agricultural Relationship to China

Iowa is building a cooperative relationship with China in terms of agriculture. On Wednesday a Chinese delegation signed 15 contracts to purchase soybeans from the United States, most of those soybeans coming from Iowa and Illinois, the two biggest producers of soybeans in the US.
