Lt. Governor Patty Judge visited with constituents and fairgoers yesterday at the Washington County Fair. President Barack Obama yesterday signed an extension of unemployment benefits to out of work Americans, and Judge told KCII while Iowa is fortunate to “have one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country,” the new legislation is “crucial to be able to pay the bills” for those Iowans who don’t have jobs.  The Lt. Governor also commented on the recent revelation that Iowa gubernatorial candidate Terry Branstad has received $1 million from the Republican Governor’s Association after criticizing Governor Chet Culver for similar out of state campaign financing.  Judge says “unfortunately” large amounts of financing are necessary to campaign in Iowa, and reform of the system “should be looked at … in a non-campaign season.”
