Mary Helen Huber, age 89, of Washington died Thursday November 26, 2009 at the M.L. McCreedy Home in Washington following a brief illness.

Celebration of life services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, December 2, at the United Presbyterian Church in Washington with Rev. Kitch Shatzer officiating. Interment will take place at Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington. General calling hours will be held from noon until 5:00 pm Tuesday at the Jones Eden Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 10:00 am until 11:00 am Wednesday at the United Presbyterian Church. Mary was born on July 30, 1920 in Washington, Iowa the daughter of Donald “Pony” and Harriet (Keck) Huber. She graduated from Washington High School. She received her degree in nursing from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Iowa City. As a registered nurse she spent most of her career with a private practice in Wheaton, Illinois. She was also a graduate of Moody Bible Institute, Chicago. Mary was involved in many church circles at the United Presbyterian Church, Washington. She enjoyed quilting, needlework, music and gardening. She sang, played piano and accordion. She enjoyed staying very active. She was a loving aunt to her five nephews and their families.

She is survived by her sisters, Kathryn Conner of Corvallis, Oregon; Clara Pearson of Washington, Iowa; nephews, Bill Pearson of Washington, Iowa; John (Jack) Pearson of Beverly, Massachusetts; James Conner of Methuen, Massachusetts; Calvin Conner of Corvallis, Oregon; and David Conner of Corvallis, Oregon.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Norma Huber of Tucson, Arizona.
