With the bond referendum roughly a month away, meetings are planned that will focus on what Highland School District would use the proceeds of a bond issue for. As a way to save the district money, a plan has been proposed to replace the two existing elementary schools with a new facility that would be built next to the high school and middle school. The school board voted to hold a general obligation bond election in July after a petition was submitted by community members.

To give the public a chance to learn more about the elementary central site proposal, a meeting is being held at 6 p.m. tomorrow at the Ainsworth Opera House and another is being held Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at St Mary’s Catholic Church Education Center in Riverside. The election is scheduled for September 8th.
