Two people who conspired to distribute methamphetamine in Washington County have been sentenced by a United States District Judge. Forty-six-year-old Kurt James Brookhart was sentenced to 9 years in prison and 5 years of supervised release following imprisonment for conspiracy to distribute at least 500 grams of a substance containing meth and 50 grams of actual meth. Thirty-eight-year-old Nahida Amira Bucchheit was sentenced to 5 and a half years of prison and 4 years of supervised release for conspiracy to distribute 5 grams or more of actual meth.

According to the Department of Justice, beginning in November 2011 until April 10, 2012, Brookhart and Buchheit conspired with Tony Young, Cesar Gonzalez and others to distribute meth in the Washington County area. Gonzalez got the meth from a source in Arizona and then shipped it to Brookhart’s residence in Wellman. On March 22, 2012, law enforcement intercepted one of these packages sent by Gonzalez to the Wellman residence and found it had approximately 200 grams of ice methamphetamine.

Young is currently serving time and Gonzalez is awaiting sentencing.

The case was investigated by the Washington-Louisa County Drug Task Force and the Iowa Department of Public Safety – Division of Narcotics Enforcement.
