Morel mushroom hunting time is just around the corner. Steve Anderson with the Washington County Conservation board says the soil temperature is nearly in the needed 50 degree range, and as long as it doesn’t frost we should see the fungi soon. Anderson says beginning morel hunters should make sure that they know what they are looking for, and that a good place to start is often where there is fallen timber on south facing slopes. Anderson adds that there is plenty of public land in Washington County on which to hunt, and to be sure not to trespass on private property.
