The Iowa Transportation Commission announced this week that they approved $8.8 million dollars for the fiscal year 2024 State Aviation Program. The Mt. Pleasant Municipal Airport is one of 31 in the state to receive some of this funding.

Just over $1.5 million dollars have been designated for General Aviation Vertical Infrastructure projects. Of these funds, $92,000 was granted to the Mt. Pleasant Municipal Airport to replace the roof of its hangar.

An additional $1.9 million was allocated for Commercial Service Vertical Infrastructure projects, while $5.3 million will fund aviation safety initiatives, system planning, and air service development activities as part of the Airport Improvement Program.

The State Aviation Program supplements local and federal funding sources and seeks to maintain a safe and effective statewide air transportation system. To view details about the program, and its funding, click here
