new-development

A retail development along Wiley Avenue has spurred the update of Washington’s Unified Commercial Urban Renewal Plan. The name of the business in the Wiley Subdivision has not been made public yet. The amendment to the plan was acknowledged and approved at Tuesday’s Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting. City Administrator Brent Hinson tells KCII News that the recommendation to the Washington City Council will be to waive the assessments to adjacent property owners for the cost of the construction of the sidewalk along East Washington Street. Hinson said how the infrastructure will be paid for, “The build out of the Wiley Subdivision, that was partly developed in, I think, about 2010 when Pizza Ranch went in. But that was left kind of as an undivided parcel there south of Pizza Ranch and the utilities weren’t extended to the full length. And so, basically, we are proposing to enter into a development agreement with Greg Wiley, that’s the property owner, to build out that subdivision. There is a specific retail development that will essentially provide the tax increment to cover those infrastructure costs.”

The platting for the subdivision along Wiley Avenue will be at the March 12th Planning and Zoning meeting, and the site plan for the new development will be at the April Planning and Zoning meeting, and will be before the city council at their April 16th meeting.
